Vacation Bible School (VBS) 2015 – Day 5

Friday, 28th August, 2015 marked the Fifth day in the bible boot camp and also the day for teaching the last two armors of God.
One of the private began the day’s activities with sessions of prayer and worship songs. Immediately after these sessions, privates were taught the topic of the day titled ‘Helmet of Salvation and The Sword of The Spirit’ – which are the last two armors amongst the whole “Armor of God”. The Helmet of Salvation protects us from thinking ungodly thoughts and the Sword of the Spirit (Word of God – Bible and Prayer) guides us in the Godly way; it helps us to be proactive in fighting Satan, Ephesians 6:17-18.
Upon the end of the teaching session, all privates retired to their various platoons for the outdoor game, tagged ‘Take a Swing at Temptation’ – which reflected the need to see how much they need a Savior, because when it comes to life, they cannot win on their own. The game required the use of a bat by each private to hit three balls into a net or a designated area where the location of both the designated area and that of the player was in such a way that the chances of hitting the three balls into the net or a designated was close to impossible; and to every player who failed to get the balls into the required area will be given other chances if s/he ask for it.
Upon the end of the game, privates were served snacks and water before they returned to their various platoons where their sergeant elaborated upon the topic of the day, they were prompted to complete the day five pages in the activity book, they were given a face cap, a wooden sword and some other materials for designing their Cap of Salvation and Wooden Sword of the Spirit and at the designated time all privates went to the canteen to launch.
Upon their arrival from the canteen, a supervisor went to each platoon to evaluate both the privates and the activities of the day.

Vacation Bible School (VBS) 2015 – Day 4

Thursday, 27th August, 2015 marked the Fourth day in the bible boot camp.
One of the private began the day’s activities with sessions of prayer and worship songs. Immediately after these sessions, privates were taught the topic of the day titled ‘Shield of Faith’ – which metaphorically is another armor amongst the whole “armor of God”. This teaching is based upon the fact that we all have sins and weaknesses in our lives with which we struggle; sometimes we just fall apart because Satan finds that little weakness in our armor and aims well but with the “Shield of Faith” those weaknesses will be covered especially when we don’t have the knowledge or strength to face a situation, Ephesians 6:16. Our shield will never fail because God is always faithful.
Upon the end of the teaching session, all privates retired to their various platoons for the outdoor game, tagged ‘Faith Ball’ – which taught upon how to keep one’s Faith and Hope in God. The game required the use of some soft balls (represented sins) and rackets (represented the Shield of Faith), the balls were thrown at the privates and privates were required to prevent the balls from hitting them by blocking them with the rackets from any angle of projection
Upon the end of the game, privates were served snacks and water before they returned to their various platoons where their sergeant elaborated upon the topic of the day, they were prompted to complete the day four pages in the activity book, they were given some materials for creating a wooden Shield of Faith and at the designated time all privates went to the canteen to launch.
Upon their arrival from the canteen, a supervisor went to each platoon to evaluate both the privates and the activities of the day.

Vacation Bible School (VBS) 2015 – Day 2

Tuesday, 25th August, 2015 marked the second day in the bible boot camp.
Upon the arrival and assembly of both privates and sergeants into the auditorium, the master sergeant prompted a private to lead some sessions of prayer and IMAG0185worship songs to begin the day’s activities. Immediately after these sessions, privates were taught the topic of the day titled ‘The Breastplate Of Righteousness’ – which metaphorically is one amongst the whole “armors of God” which is based upon how privates will be trained to strive to keeping-out sins from their hearts; to think about the nature of righteousness (the state of being right with God) and how it is obtained, Ephesians 6:14; to symbolize sins as spears and arrows attacking the vital organs in the chest during a battle which one must protect himself/herself from.
Upon the end of the teaching session, all privates retires to their various platoons in order to continue the remaining activities, such as: the outdoor game, tagged ‘Water War’ – which involves the use of water balloons and the pairing of two platoons against one another where privates tried to throw some shot at the chest of their opponents; the water balloons signified sins and privates tried by many means not to get their chest wet.Privates in action #WaterWars
Upon the end of the game, privates were served snacks and water before they returned to their various platoons where their sergeant elaborated upon the topic of day 2, they were prompted to complete the day one pages in the activity book, they were given T-shirt and some materials to make their own “T-shirt of righteousness” and at the designated time all privates went to the canteen to launch.
Upon their arrival from the canteen, a supervisor went to each platoon to evaluate both the privates and the activities of the day.

BUILDING A KINGDOM COMMUNITY

by Rev. Mike Ola
• Rom. 12:3
• We need each other in other to withstand this period of persecution. over and over again the new testament has stressed on the word “LOVE” and the fact that we need to live together in harmony of which should be the foundation of our Christian life and family.
• In order to grow in the fullness of Christ you need to love those who are unlovable/your enemies even though they might step on your toes
• Treat people warmly and with respect and note that when you are looking at someone’s faults you will pay little or no attention to your own and because we are usually full of ourselves and the cohesion that should be in the church is not there (1 timothy 1:5) when you are antagonizing another Christian you become the adversary of the Christian
• We have to take conscious effort to love the unloved by caring and most especially sharing the things we have with other (Rom. 12:13)
• NOTE THIS : that if there is so much love in your heart your mouth/words will transport it to your brethren (Rom. 12:15)
CHARACTERISTICS OF A CHRISTIAN FAMILY
• They truly love one another
• They are devoted to one another
• They love the unlovable
• They take conscious effort to love the unloved by caring and most especially sharing

•They Treat people warmly and with respect e.t.c

In conclusion, the Christian church is not perfect, but we are all aiming for the higher calling which we will achieve when we know Jesus in the way we are known. Until that day when we see Jesus face to we must keep building each other up in love.
